Rosanna Clare has created a range of beautiful leather goods, including bags and accessories, by combining her love of leather with her passion to reduce waste and to re-use. Much of the leather that she uses has been discarded from the furniture industry, or is ‘upcycled’ from unwanted items such as leather jackets or sofas!

Whilst new leather is sustainably sourced from Italy, Spain or Belgium. All of Rosanna Clare’s leather bags, jewellery, homeware and gifts are handmade in her home studio in Essex, near Colchester. Rosanna also enjoys passing on her leather-crafting knowledge to others via workshops for individuals, groups or corporate events, with clients including Soho House & Spotify. Rosanna’s popular leather craft book ‘Sew Luxe Leather’ contains step by step instructions on 20 projects, including detailed information on leather working tools and suppliers, and is a must-read for any budding leather worker.

Her inventiveness with ‘waste’ has led to her taking part in the BBC TV programme ‘Money for Nothing’ where products destined for the tip are transformed by artisans like her. See her latest appearance here.

THE STUDIO

After nearly a decade of running my leather craft business, I’ve finally got my very own studio — right at the bottom of my garden in Wivenhoe, near Colchester in north Essex.

I made the move in October 2024, leaving my rented space in Ardleigh behind. When the rent jumped 50% in just two months, it turned out to be the perfect nudge to create my dream workspace — and now my commute is just a few steps from the house!

Wivenhoe is a beautiful estuary town just south of Colchester, with great transport links and a creative buzz thanks to a large population of artists with a popular, bi-annual Art Trail.

I can’t wait to welcome you to my new studio soon! ✨
