Rucksack in a Day Workshop

£199.00

Come along and make a complete leather & canvas rucksack in one day! On the course you will;

  • learn about different types of leather and how to select the right type for your bag.

  • You will use a ready made pattern to create your rucksack but may adapt it slightly to your taste and needs. For example, you can make it with or without a front patch pocket and even choose colours to match your motorbike! ;)

  • PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS AN INTENSIVE ONE DAY COURSE. PRIOR SEWING MACHINE EXPERIENCE IS ADVISABLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL

    The design includes…

  • An inside zipped pocket for your valuables

  • adjustable straps for comfort.

  • long buckle straps to allow for more or less stuff to go inside depending on the length of your adventure!

  • The rucksack measures 40cm wide and 50cm tall when fully open and 10cm deep at the base.

  • Tools, equipment and materials are all provided with a range of colours of both leather and canvas to choose from, however, you are more than welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

  • the bag is all sewn on an industrial sewing machine.

  • you may also emboss your initials onto the bag for that personal touch!

    Please contact me when booking to discuss any special requirements.

  • Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day, just please bring a packed lunch.


    Workshop duration: 1 day, 10am-6pm with 45 mins for lunch

Maximum 3 people at my Essex studio

It was great to work through the process and very satisfying by mid afternoon to see the rucksack taking shapes as we stitched leather and canvas together and affixed the rivets. This was my third workshop with Rosanna, this time my fiancé joined us to make 'his & hers' rucksacks! We love the fact we’ve made something unique & learnt skills for future use. We thoroughly enjoyed the day, choosing the canvas, leather & using the templates definitely made things easier.

The whole day was just wonderful. Right from the start, when you arrive at the lovely creative studio in such peaceful surroundings, you then choose the colour of the leather and then the colour of the canvas and then of course the colour of the lining. Choices, choices, choices! I have done a previous course with Rosanna so I knew just how organised and what a great teacher she was. The patterns were all ready for us to cut out and she explained everything we had to do in great detail and helped us when we got to a tricky bit! I wanted to learn how to sew leather and how to construct a bag and that is exactly what happened and I had a great time doing it. I returned home with my lovely rucksack and everyone said how talented I was. Rosanna is the talented one but just a tiny bit of that has rubbed off on me!
